The organizers of Nigeria’s biggest music awards, The Headies originally called the Hip Hop World Awards have announced on Tuesday that the 15th edition of the prestigious awards ceremony will hold in the United States of America.
The organizers further revealed that this year’s edition will hold in Atlanta on Saturday, July 2nd, 2020 during a press briefing in Lagos.
This is the first time that the Headies Award, formerly known as the Hip Hop World Awards, will hold outside Nigeria since its inception in 2006.
They also announced that the winner of the Next Rated Category of the 15th Headies Awards will get a Bentley 2022 model.
The organizers said the decision to upgrade the car prize is because they want a vehicle that stars can drive and take pride in. As opposed to the previous editions where the winners often end up giving the cars they won to their managers.
They also announced that this year’s edition of the award will see the introduction of a new category for music executives. It also will have a conference and music festival.
