Wesley Fofana, the Chelsea defender, has expressed deep frustration over what he describes as the continued failure to adequately address racism in football, insisting that little has changed despite years of high-profile campaigns.

Fofana lamented on his Instagram on the lack of meaningful consequences for offenders, suggesting that anti-racism initiatives have not translated into real accountability.

“2026, it’s still the same thing, nothing changes. These people are never punished. You create big campaigns against racism, but nobody actually does anything,” he said.
The French international’s remarks highlight an ongoing concern within the sport, where players have repeatedly called for stronger measures to combat discriminatory abuse, particularly on social media.
