Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has sparked excitement on social media by teasing his latest protest song, despite the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banning his previous track, “Tell Your Papa”.
The new song’s cover design features the phrase “3 Arms of government”, although the title remains undisclosed.

The NBC banned “Tell Your Papa” due to its “objectionable” content, which criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration over issues like economic hardship and insecurity. In the song, Abdulkareem urged Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, to convey the struggles of Nigerians to his father. The rapper’s lyrics highlighted the country’s deepening economic woes and security concerns, sparking heated debates about censorship and freedom of expression.
The ban has ignited a wider conversation about the role of government in regulating music content and the boundaries of free expression in Nigeria. Many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their opinions on the song and the NBC’s decision, with some defending Abdulkareem’s right to express his political views through music.
The NBC deemed “Tell Your Papa” “inappropriate for broadcast” under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. Social activist VeryDarkMan has pledged to sponsor a music video for “Tell Your Papa” in response to the ban.
