Tory Lanez, an embattled 32-year-old Canadian rapper and singer has been rushed to the hospital after being stabbed at the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi.
According to TMZ, the rapper was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance following a stab attack. The stabbing is said to be non-life-threatening, as the motive of the attack is being investigated.
Lanez was found guilty of shooting fellow entertainer and Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion in the foot during an argument after they left Kylie Jenner’s party in 2020.
The Sentence
During the case, prosecutors had called for a 13-year prison sentence, asserting that Lanez “lacked remorse and was clearly incapable of accepting any responsibility for his own actions.
Lanez’s defense team, on the other hand, sought probation and a residential drug treatment program to address his alcohol issues.
However, during the hearing, the California state judge sentenced the rapper to 10 years in prison for the shooting.
Megan Thee Stallion, who chose not to attend the sentencing as she couldn’t be in the same room with Lanez, remarked, “This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and that there is zero tolerance for the torture that accompanies violence.”
After the sentence was pronounced, Lanez addressed the court, stating, “If I could turn back time on the series of events that night, I would. She was my friend and someone I still care about to this day. Everything I did wrong that night I take full responsibility for.”
