There is so much anticipation for this year’s Valentine’s day that some people have even been planning since last year. Your significant other is probably looking at you with one eye, expecting a memorable Valentine’s day.
Do you want to spend so much money on a day that will come and go? Don’t worry! There are plenty of ways to spend one-on-one time together for Valentine’s day. Here are affordable and thoughtful date ideas you can try with your special one.
1. Dinner at home
Whether you like it or not, Valentine’s day is not a public holiday, and your day may be filled with other activities. You can plan a small dinner at home with either home-cooked food or order a meal.
To make it look sweet and romantic, you can decorate the room you will be using with balloons and flowers (red, of course!) and light a scented candle. Turn on some soothing music and trust me, your partner will appreciate this.
2. Plan a picnic
Just imagine the serenity of nature with good food and conversations with your loved one. Doesn’t that sound great? You will have to pack for food, a bowl of ice cream or cake as dessert, a mat, cool drinks, and a portable music player if you like. Pick out a great spot with plenty of scenery and shade and set your picnic there.
3. Watch a movie
You can watch a movie in the cinema, although it may be crowded as other people can have this same idea, or watch a movie at home. If you choose to go to the cinema, you don’t have to plan anything as food and drinks are available. But if you would rather watch in the comfort of your house, you can make a fort or small tent in the living room just for the cuteness of it. You can also lounge on the couch and have homemade popcorn and drinks.

4. Go to the beach
Remember, we are in a pandemic, so you will need to take extra precautions for all outdoor activities. But if going to the beach appeals to you, then go for it! You can pack a basket filled with necessities like towels, food, and anything so that contact with other people is reduced.
You can laze around and play with the water or take pictures. If you like, you can sit there and watch the beautiful sunset.
5. Take a drive
If you or your significant other has a car, then get on the road!
You can do this in the evening when the roads are freer, and the weather feels cooler. Hop into the car and explore your city; you’ll be surprised what you may find. You can laugh at jokes, or if you don’t feel like talking, pop in some music and enjoy the thrill of it all.
