Nollywood superstar Funke Akindele has expressed profound gratitude and humility after Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu took time to watch her latest cinematic project, ‘‘Behind The Scenes”.
The actress-filmmaker described the moment as truly humbling, sharing a video clip and heartfelt message on her social media platforms.
In her post, Akindele wrote: “A truly humbling moment as the Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, watched my movie BEHIND THE SCENES. Moments like this remind me that when you stay committed to your craft and remain consistent, your work will speak for you in places you never imagined. She however, urged fans to catch the movie, which is still showing in cinemas across Nigeria, as well as in the UK, USA, and Canada.
Released on December 12, 2025, “Behind The Scenes” has dominated the box office, crossing over ₦2.1 billion in Nigeria within weeks of release. Internationally, it has earned over $301,505 in the US and Canada combined, cementing its status as one of the highest-grossing Nollywood films ever and contributing to Akindele’s record as Africa’s top box-office filmmaker in three consecutive years.
