Nollywood actor, Benedict Johnson has opened up about a tough time in his career, saying he went five years without getting any movie roles.
Johnson talked about his experience during a recent service at Streams of Joy International. A video of his story has since gone viral online.
He said that for five years, no filmmakers reached out to him for any movie projects.
He explained that this difficult period led him to move to Abuja so he could attend prayer programs at the church led by Jerry Eze.

Johnson said he decided to move even though his colleagues warned him that Abuja was not known for film production.
He shared that since the start of 2026, he has acted in 12 movies. He also mentioned getting acting offers from producers in the United States and Germany.
“For five good years as a seasoned actor, I never had any job to do. Our industry is not like an employment where you can walk up to your director and say, ‘What’s happening?’ — why was I fired? This one, silently, nobody calls you for a job. For five years, I had no job to do. I kept believing in God,” he said.
“At the time, I decided to move down to Abuja because of NSPPD. I was following online, but I said to myself I would come to Abuja so I could see Pastor Jerry every Sunday — watch him, stay with him, stare in his face and ask God to bless me through him.
“Some of my colleagues said, ‘Benedict, Abuja is not a film place. If you go to Abuja, nobody will call you’. I said, ‘Don’t worry,’ and I came down here.
“Fast forward to now: this year alone, I have done twelve jobs already. We did 21 days of fasting and prayers this January, and I was right here praying.
“… God opened my way, and I started doing jobs. As I speak to you right now, by next week, I am going to Germany and America to make a movie. I intend to return all the glory to God.”
