Veteran Nollywood actor, Alhaji Babatunde Bamgbode, popularly known as Baba Fokoko, has refuted claims made by some of his colleagues regarding the 2023 election campaign.

It would be recalled that several Nollywood stars including Lalude, Alapini, Toyin Abraham, Olaiye Igwe, Seyi Law, Eniola Badmus, and Foluke Daramola actively campaigned for Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

Two years after Tinubu’s victory, Alapini expressed regret in June 2025, lamenting that he and others who supported the campaign had not been rewarded. Following this, Lalude accused the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), MC Oluomo, of failing to fulfill promises allegedly made to them.

However, in a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, Baba Fokoko dismissed those claims, insisting that MC Oluomo never promised any form of compensation.

“He didn’t promise to reward any of us. He never promised me anything, though he had good intentions toward us. It’s been more than two years now, but he never pledged to give anyone anything,” Baba Fokoko clarified.

He added that MC Oluomo only provided food items during the campaign, which they shared among themselves.

“He gave us foodstuffs to distribute during the campaign and told us to share the leftovers. We went home with those items on more than two occasions. But there was never any promise of post-campaign compensation,” he concluded.
