Jigan Babaoja, the Nollywood actor whose real name is Abimbola Kazeem, has shared his inspiring story of overcoming body shaming despite being physically disabled.

In a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, Jigan revealed that he has developed a strong mindset that enables him to brush off insults and mockery.

Growing up, Jigan faced harsh name-calling from peers, but by age eight, he had learned to overcome body shaming. Today, he doesn’t see himself as disabled, emphasizing his ability to perform various physical activities like running, jumping, and playing football. “What happened is I have taken these things off my mind,” he said. “I do not know if I have an injury on my leg. The only time I know I am living with disability is when I look into the mirror”.

Jigan also stated “Even when it comes to sexual intercourse, I do better than a two-legged person.” He encourages others with disabilities to embrace their uniqueness and recognize their inner strength, saying, “My advice to people like me is that they should observe my life. Before you abuse me, I would have abused myself. There is nothing anyone can say to me that would pain me”.

With a career spanning over a decade, Jigan’s viral “So Mo Age Mi” challenge in 2018 catapulted him to fame. He has also used his platform to educate his children about his disability, teaching them to fight the associated trauma. In fact, he has appealed to others living with disabilities to use him as a case study, sharing his experiences to inspire and empower.
