Seasoned Nigerian actor, Olumide Oworu, has explained why he ventured into partisan politics.
In a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, the 31-year-old movie actor revealed that one of the reasons he joined politics was to be among policymakers, stressing that the poor policymaking of the present crop of politicians was affecting him just like every other common person.

Oworu noted that Nigeria has been regressing over the years, and he wants to be among those who will rise and save the nation from total collapse.
He also cited the aging of the present crops of politicians as one of the factors that influenced his decision to join politics.
“I decided to join politics because of how the country is going. I know how Nigeria was when I was younger, but now, things keep getting worse. And I want to start a family and raise my kids here.
“So, I have to make sure that I try my best to be among the policymakers because whatever policy that is being enacted, it would ultimately, affect me like every other common person.
“And also, most of the present crops of politicians are aging out and whatever policy they are making today, it is me and my friends who will be at the receiving end tomorrow,” he explained.

Oworu contested for the position of House of Assembly member, representing Surulere 1 constituency in Lagos State under the Labour Party during the 2023 elections but lost to his colleague, Desmond Elliott.
Despite the setback, Oworu’s interest in politics remains undeterred.
