Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola has reacted strongly to comments made by veteran movie director and actor, Afeez Abiodun, popularly known as Afeez Owo, during a podcast interview where he compared her with his wife, actress Mide Martins.
eelive.ng reports that Afeez Owo was a guest on the African A-List Podcast where he spoke about the difference between Wumi Toriola’s character and that of his wife, Mide Martins.
Speaking during the interview, Afeez explained that the way Wumi acts in movies is very similar to her real-life behaviour. According to him, Wumi is known to be outspoken and quick to react when provoked, unlike Mide Martins who, he claimed, remains calm even when offended.

He said, “Mide’s character in movies is totally different from her real life, but Wumi’s movie roles are close to her real character. Violence is her comfort zone. Wumi will react when provoked and she doesn’t take nonsense from anyone. But if you offend Mide in real life, she will remain calm.”

The comments, however, did not sit well with Wumi Toriola who took to social media to express her anger. In a video she posted on Instagram, which she later deleted, Wumi blasted Afeez Owo for speaking about her in such a manner.
She questioned why the filmmaker would bring issues concerning her personality to a public platform, describing his interview as unnecessary and insulting.
Reacting in the video, she said, “Must every rift be taken to podcasts? They gave you a mic, and you started saying rubbish. After they entertained you with pepper soup, you started blabbing. Am I a mad woman? If people don’t offend me, will I be angry? I have never insulted you before. I still respect you despite your unfortunate behaviour.”
Recall that Wumi Toriola has in the past openly addressed issues about her personality and her acting roles, insisting that people often misjudge her because of the roles she plays on screen.
The actress, who has featured in several blockbuster Yoruba movies, remains one of the most talked-about stars in the industry, while Mide Martins, wife of Afeez Owo, has also built a strong reputation for her work in Nollywood.
