The Federal Government of Nigeria has appointed popular Nigerian singer, 2Face Idibia as its National Fire Safety Ambassador.
eelive reports that the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Samuel Adeyemi, represented by Deputy Controller General Aliyu Tambari, made the announcement on Friday in Abuja during the closing ceremony of the 2025 National Fire Safety Week.
The event had the theme “Building a Culture of Fire Safety Across Nigeria: Overcoming the ‘Not My Portion’ Mentality.”
Adeyemi said the Fire Safety Week engaged Nigerians nationwide with a message that fire prevention begins with individuals. He recalled that the programme opened with a virtual town hall, followed by the presentation of Bankers’ Cheques under the Group Life Insurance Scheme to families of fallen and injured fire officers.
The event also featured the “CG’s Cup” and medals sponsored by Kabir Lateef to motivate personnel. Officers conducted sensitisation exercises in schools, markets and major economic centres, including roadshows, drills and demonstrations.
Adeyemi described the response from Nigerians as “remarkable,” noting increased interest in safety. He said certificates and awards presented at the closing ceremony recognised institutions and individuals who had shown exceptional commitment to compliance and risk reduction.

According to him, the singer’s influence would “amplify public messaging, inspire behavioural change and connect millions of Nigerians to the national fire safety agenda. As a National Fire Safety Ambassador, we expect him to inspire a new generation to embrace a culture of safety.”
2Baba’s latest appointment comes shortly after he was appointed Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach, by the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia.
Announcing the appointment, Governor Alia said: “On behalf of the Benue State government and our very good people, we want to give you some more responsibility plus the ones you have been doing because you have the capacity to do some more and help us chart a way forward to improve other people’s lives and to gain more from your wisdom and advise as well so I’m pleased to announce that we will make you a technical adviser to the Governor on entertainment and community outreach.”
