AGN president, Emeka Rollas mourns late president Buhari

Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), described the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed on last Sunday as disciplined and principled man.

The AGN president via Instagram on Tuesday, mourned the statesman who  supported the creative industry during his leadership as president of Nigeria.

He wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that I, on behalf of the entire members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and the entire nation on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“President Buhari was not only a leader of great discipline and principle, but also a man who, in his own way, supported the creative industry. I recall with gratitude and personal humility that it was during his administration I was honored with the prestigious title of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON). This recognition was not only a personal milestone but a symbol of hope and progress for the Nigerian creative industry.

“We mourn a statesman whose legacy, though controversial to some, undeniably shaped the course of our nation in significant ways. May his soul find eternal rest, and may his family find comfort in the prayers and love of a grateful nation.

It would recalled that Buhari had died in the United Kingdom on Sunday after an undisclosed illness.

President Bola Tinubu had ordered Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to receive the body of the late president and bring it back to Nigeria.

The Nigerian delegation to the United Kingdom was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; and Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum; among others.

Announcing Buhari’s burial for today, the Governor of Buhari’s home state, Katsina State, Dikko Radda, disclosed that arrangement for the former President’s burial was done in consultation with his family and close associates in London.
