Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has spoken out for the first time since being released from police custody.
As earlier reported by eelive.ng, Okorie was initially arrested on January 26 in Lagos and arraigned in Abuja over alleged cyberstalking and cyberbullying charges, stemming from a petition by fellow actress Mercy Johnson Okojie.
She was held in Suleja Prison while waiting for her bail hearing. On January 30, Justice Emeka Nwite granted her bail at ₦5 million, requiring a Level 13 civil servant as surety and several verification documents, such as an affidavit of means, appointment and promotion letters, passport photos, and proof of residence.
Speaking after her release, Okorie thanked her supporters on social media, expressing her gratitude for their help. She wrote: I will speak to my fans and families tomorrow!!
“God bless each and every one of you who showed me love. You all are amazing.Thank you”.
Her management also dismissed reports saying she was re-arrested after her release.
Her detention sparked reactions within the entertainment industry and on social media, with colleagues and fans questioning the length of time she spent in custody after bail was granted.
