Aproko Doctor Raises Alarm Over Fake ‘Cryptic Pregnancy’ Scam

Aproko Doctor

Popular Nigerian doctor, Chinonso Egemba better known as Aproko Doctor, has warned women to be careful of a growing “cryptic pregnancy” scam.

According to him, fraudsters pretending to be medical experts inject women with hormones that make them look and feel pregnant. After some time, they hand over babies suspected to have been trafficked.

In a post on X, the doctor cautioned, “There is a pregnancy scam going on. Anybody that tells you another person cannot see the baby in your womb with an ultrasound scan is about to scam you. If there’s a pregnancy, it will be seen with an ultrasound scan. A lot of women are falling victim. They pump them with drugs to mimic pregnancy, tell them not to do scans, then later bring a baby and give it to them. It’s a criminal racket.”

His warning sparked fresh reactions online, with another doctor, Olusina Ajidahun, known as The Bearded Dr. Sina on X, backing the claim. He reminded women that he had earlier warned about the same “cryptic pregnancy” scam.

The issue gained more attention after former Big Brother Naija star, Bambam, shared a testimony she heard in her church about a woman who allegedly carried a pregnancy for three years and four months. Bambam described it as “God’s miracle.”

But Dr. Sina dismissed the story, saying, “Trust me, the woman in your church is unlikely to have carried a baby for 3 years. She was probably injected with hormones to gain weight and have pregnancy symptoms like vomiting. Her scans were likely done only in one hospital because they tell them not to go elsewhere.”
