
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Fireboy DML in a heartfelt revelation, has dismissed the obsession with industry rankings, choosing instead to celebrate the unwavering support he receives of his loyal fans.
In a recent statement, the “Peru” hitmaker said: “I don’t really care about Top 5 or Top 10, as long as I have fans who rate me, I know that I have fans that think I’m the best artiste in the whole world. I’m a very contented person.”

Fireboy, whose real name is Adedamola Adefolahan, turning point came in 2018 when legendary rapper Olamide discovered his talent and signed him to YBNL Nation, his influential label that had already launched stars like Adekunle Gold and Lil Kesh.

Fireboy’s breakthrough arrived with the single “Jealous,” topping charts and earning him widespread recognition and has since released albums that have also topped music charts. Elevating him to the global market came in 2021 with “Peru”. It became his biggest hit, topping charts and catching the ear of Ed Sheeran, who reached out for a remix. The collaboration pushed “Peru” onto the Billboard Hot 100.
