The Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu-Ode, whose house is currently qualified to produce the next Awujale of Ijebuland, has directed Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as KWAM 1, to prove his of royal blood within five days.
This directive comes barely four days after the musician, in a letter dated December 3, 2025, declared his interest in the Awujale of Ijebu land stool and describing himself as a “bonafide son” of Fusengbuwa.
The house asked the Fuji icon to immediately complete the family’s royal lineage data form to prove he is a legitimate prince of the house.

Chairman of the ruling house, Chief Abdulateef Owoyemi, a former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN),noted that no one – no matter how prominent – would be allowed to proceed in the selection process without first establishing authentic membership of the royal house.

“The first and non-negotiable step is the royal lineage data form. You must trace your father, grandfather and continue for seven generations. Only bonafide princes will be recognised,” Owoyemi said warning that the measure was to prevent “strangers” from hijacking the throne.
Although the deadline for expression of interest expired on December 5, the family granted KWAM 1 a five-day grace period, ending December 10, to submit the completed and verified form with the house hoping to present qualified candidates to the kingmakers before December 18, with a new Awujale expected to be installed by the third week of January 2026.
