Nene Aderigbigbe, who is Ayra Starr’s mother, shared that she has decided to end three of her close friendships for good.
In a New Year’s post on TikTok, Nene looked back at her past decisions and wondered if she might have overreacted.
She said the first friendship ended because of a serious breach of trust. Her friend told her husband about a private conversation they had shared.
She said, “So I was reflecting on life, you know, it is a new year, and you want to reflect and see what you can correct. I now remember that a few years ago, I cut off from a few of my friends. I do not know if I overreacted, and do you know why I did it?
“Three of them, we are friends, we talk together about women’s things. The next day, one of them was now telling me that the thing we had discussed, I told my husband. I was like why but she was like I told my husband and he said it’s okay. She cut the phone, since that day till now, I have not picked up her call.
“Because why would you go and tell your husband what me and you were talking about? Do I know your husband? Is it not you I met, and we became friends? I do not want those kinds of friends. And if she is watching this video, that is why I do not talk to you again.”

Nene said the second friendship ended because her friend’s husband contacted her in ways she found inappropriate and unwanted.
She explained that the third friendship ended because she felt emotionally drained. This friend, who had been married for over twenty years, often called just to complain about her husband.
“The second person, I am your friend, why will your husband be telling me I am in America. Mummy Oyinkan, I just arrived in London. Why are you telling me you are in America? Did I send you there? I am your wife’s friend, I do not want to be your friend,” she added.
“Do not text me, I am not comfortable with it, not everybody is comfortable with something like that. I just do not like it. The third person, the reason I cut her off is that you have been married for 20 years, but she would still be calling me to report her husband to me.
“Do you want me to go and beat him where he is? Marriage that you have endured for years, so what do you want me to say? Why do you want to drain me mentally?”

Aderigbigbe also shared that none of the three friends know the real reason she stopped talking to them.
“So that is why I cut those friends off, and till today, they do not even know why,” she added.
