BBNaija: Adekunle Slams Fans For Focusing On Love Stories In BBNaija

Adekunle

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle has expressed dissatisfaction with the way fans are following the ongoing season of the reality show.

Adekunle said viewers are focusing too much on relationships, potential “ships” and love triangles, instead of paying attention to the entertainment value of the programme.

In a post shared on his X handle, the reality star noted that there are 26 contestants in the house, and more than half of them are entertaining enough to give viewers content beyond romantic storylines.

You guys aren’t enjoying this show and it sucks. I haven’t watched the show since Wednesday, and I hoped to get updates on the TL. But instead, it’s talk about alleged ships, potential ships and the drama within the triangles,” he wrote.

He added: “There are 26 people in that house and more than half of them are incredibly entertaining. THIS IS AN ENTERTAINMENT SHOW, not a show about love. I’m genuinely asking now, because I don’t get it. What exactly is the entertaining value in:

“boy likes girl, boy goes after girl.

“girl likes the attention, girl plays hard to get.

“boy talks to other girls, girl talks to other boys.

“Yes, it’s a storyline, but come on guys!”

Adekunle further reminded fans that Big Brother Naija is a game, where contestants are expected to play roles that help them win. He stressed that each housemate comes in with a plan, while some others discover their strategy as the show progresses.

Remember that everyone in that house is playing a game. Some people get in there knowing exactly what they want to do. Others figure it out while they’re in there, while others have to constantly remind themselves where they are and that it’s all still a game,” he said.

According to him, the show has lasted for nine seasons and only a few relationships formed on the platform have worked out after the show. He questioned why fans continue to concentrate on “ships” that are unlikely to succeed.

Year in, year out you guys always do this. FOCUS ON SHIPS – especially the ones that are unlikely to sail. WHY?” he asked.

Adekunle also pointed out that house activities such as the pool party, wager presentation, and other tasks are specifically designed to entertain the audience, urging viewers to give more attention to those events.

There was a pool party, a wager presentation and other things this week. These things are curated for the viewers’ experience. Allow yourselves to be entertained by EVERYTHING, not just the drama,” he wrote.

He warned that when fans put pressure on housemates to deliver only relationship content, the contestants may end up pretending to be something they are not just to satisfy the audience.

Don’t make these housemates come out and pretend to be something they’re not just because they want to satisfy the fans,” he cautioned.

Adekunle concluded by saying the present season has the potential to be one of the best, but only if viewers open themselves to the full entertainment package.

This season has the potential to be one of the best, but we’ll dilute it if we focus on just a handful of the housemates. Let’s enjoy the SHOW. Let’s focus on ENTERTAINMENT!” he added.
