‘Being a mother is a full-time job’ – Katy Perry

Katy Perry is opening up about how much her world has changed since she became a mother to Daisy Dove a month ago. The Smile singer recently revealed how motherhood has opened her eyes and given her a new sense of appreciation for caregivers everywhere.

“Popular misconception: being a mother isn’t a full time job,” Perry tweeted Thursday, throwing in a crazy face, an upside-down smile and a baby bottle emoji to punctuate the point.

With feeding, changing diapers and countless sleepless nights; Perry gave a shout-out to the mothers who have learned how to juggle a career, their family and personal life. This is why she went to bat for them in a strongly-worded four-part Twitter thread.

“When a mom finally goes back to work (whatever profession they do) it’s not like they been coming from months of ‘time off…’ she’s coming from a full-time job… of being a mother,” Perry added, pointing out that childcare is a 24-hour responsibility.

Now that she’s learning the ropes and sharing the trials and tribulations of being a full-time parent; Perry wants to inspire fans to not only be more thankful of their mothers but to caregivers everywhere.

“Call your mom and tell her you love and appreciate her,” she instructed. “And advocate for paid family leave!”

Perry made clear that she isn’t complaining about her rapidly changing lifestyle, clarifying in her final tweet, “I love my job.”

Perry shares Daisy, who was born on Aug. 27, with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
