Benin Queen Lands In Deep Trouble Over Involvement With Peller [Details]

The Benin Traditional Council has taken firm disciplinary action following what it describes as a serious breach of palace protocols during popular Nigerian streamer and content creator Habibullahi Abdullateef, widely known as Peller,’s visit to the Oba of Benin’s palace on March 6, 2026.

In a development that has stirred widespread debate, the council announced sanctions against several palace chiefs, staff members, and one of the Oba’s queens implicated in allowing unauthorised access and interactions during Peller’s tour of the historic Benin Palace.

Recall that the younger streamer who’s on a national tour was received by palace officials, greeted one of the queens (Oloi) from a respectful distance in line with tradition, received gifts, and even followed her on social media at her request.

However, palace authorities noted that the chiefs had explicitly informed Peller of key Benin customs: men are traditionally not permitted to see or interact closely with the queen in certain private or non-ceremonial contexts. Despite this guidance, elements of the visit reportedly crossed into restricted sacred areas, leading to accusations of unauthorised entry and disregard for established royal etiquette.

The Benin Traditional Council, in a press statement, condemned the incident as a violation of the sanctity of the palace and the revered traditions of the Benin Kingdom.

The council has called for accountability to preserve the dignity of the monarchy, while emphasising that such breaches undermine the cultural integrity of the institution.
