Former world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has broken his silence on the death of his two friends, Sina Ghami (his long-time strength and conditioning coach) and Latif “Latz” Ayodele (his personal trainer and close friend) with a heartfelt tribute.
The incident occurred on December 29, 2025, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, where Joshua was a passenger in a Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck. He sustained minor injuries and was hospitalised briefly, while his friends were pronounced dead at the scene.
In his emotional post on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Joshua expressed deep grief and gratitude for the widespread support shown to the families. He wrote: “Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers. I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men.”

“100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers.”
Speaking with UFC star Kamaru Usman today, the boxer revealed that the reality “still hasn’t sunk in,” saying: “They both passed away. It still hasn’t hit me yet.”
Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele were integral parts of Joshua’s team for many years. Ghami as a sports rehabilitation specialist and co-founder of Evolve Gym, and Ayodele as a dedicated personal trainer who had shared lighthearted moments with Joshua, including a table tennis session posted just hours before the accident.
