Nigerian reality star, Tochi, whose real name is Tochukwu Okechukwu Tochi, has stated that being a boyfriend is more expensive than being married as a husband.
The former Big Brother Naija contestant addressed the issue of billing in relationships via his Instagram page.
He wrote on IG, “It’s more expensive now to be a boyfriend than a husband.”
Tochi first became a public figure in the 2020 Big Brother Naija Lockdown edition. He didn’t emerge winner of the competition, however, he was able to give viewers some exciting moments.

Equally, billing culture has become prevalent, and it is a major theme in Nigerian relationships. Specifically, billing culture simply means a man taking absolute responsibility for the financial well-being of his partner.

It has often been talked about and broadcast in various formats across social media. Some content creators, such as Mr Macaroni, Sabinus, and several others, have explained how women often seek financial assistance or a form of entitlement from their partners through their comedy skits.
In a trending video on social media, a young lady was seen informing her partner that she is prepared to walk away from the relationship should her partner go ‘broke’. She stated that she isn’t ready to suffer, and he should understand that it is a privilege for him to be in a relationship with a ‘fine girl’.
The video has since sparked numerous reactions from social media users. Several commentators have applauded the young lady for stating what she believes in and realizing her value, meanwhile, another coterie of people on X have slammed her for being in a relationship with the young man for only financial gains.
