Burna Boy Lauds Fela Kuti, Says ‘Only African Artist Greater Than Him’

Grammy award winner, Damini Ogulu, who is better known as Burna Boy, has stated that Afrobeats pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, is the only African artiste who is greater than him.

He claimed a recent livestream with popular Australian streamer, Playboymax.

“He [Fela Kuti] is the king. He is the only [African artist] who is greater than me. He is the only one,” Burna Boy boasted.

The ‘Last Last’ crooner’s bold claim elicited mixed reactions, with many saying it was overreaching.

While Burna Boy is currently one of the biggest artists in Africa, the hierarchy of the greatest African artists in history remains a debate.

Equally, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He gained recognition in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E.
