This is Burna Boy‘s year! This statement rings truer when you begin to review Burna’s achievement in 2019.

Burna Boy dominates Apple Music List

In addition to the ever-growing list of the Afro-fusion artiste’s accomplishments, Burna tops the recently released Apple Music list of Most Streamed Songs in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2019. He dominates the list with five of his songs. News Agency of Nigeria reports that the data, recently released by Apple Music, featured Artists in sub-Sahara Africa whose songs were streamed via the platform.

Noteworthy is the fact that in a list that reviews music listening habits in Sub-Saharan Africa – a region that consists of all African countries that are fully or partially located south of the Sahara, Nigeria songs feature nine times out of ten. Interestingly, the only non-Nigerian song on the list, “Brown Skin Girl” by Beyonce has a Nigerian feature.

In the heavyweight list, Burna Boy had five songs. He left the other five top slots to other artists including Davido, Wizkid, Joeboy and Rema.
Burna Boy’s songs ‘On the low’, ‘Gbona’, ‘Dangote’ and ‘Anybody’ occupied top five alongside his heavy collaboration with Zlatan ‘Killin Dem’.The Grammy-nominated artist has had a stellar year. He leads in every musical front culminating in his 2020 Grammy nomination in the World Music category alongside Angelique Kidjo.

The list also featured Joe Boy’s ‘Baby’. The young artist has been on a steady rise since the release of his
song.

NAN reports that Rema was another young artist that made the list with his song, ‘Dumebi’. The catchy tune garnered airplay in the first half of the year and shifted the same enthusiasts to streaming platforms.
Beyonce’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’ was the number one motivation song for black women around the world. This showed in its streaming numbers on Apple Music.

However, Davido appeared twice on the list in two interesting collaborations. The first, ‘Blow My Mind’ with Chris Brown and ‘One Ticket’ with Kizz Daniel. Both songs have remained fans favorites till date.
