
Prominent Afrobeats stars such as Burna Boy and Olamide have made the list of former American president, Barack Obama’s favourite music of 2025.
The singers, eelive.ng understands that are the only Nigerians on the playlist unveiled by Obama on his X post on Thursday night.
Since he started this tradition during his presidency, his lists have become a “kingmaker” for artists, with appearing on an Obama playlist often leading to a massive surge in streaming numbers.

Obama, in a statement posted on his official X handle late Thursday said, “As 2025 comes to a close, I’m continuing a tradition that I started during my time in the White House: sharing my annual lists of favourite books, movies, and music.
“I hope you find something new to enjoy—and please send any recommendations for me to check out!”
‘Tatata’ by Burna Boy ft. Travis Scott and ‘99’ by Olamide ft. Daecolm, Sey Vibez, Asake, & Young Jonn are the Nigerian songs featured on the list.

The songs on the playlist, cut across diferent musical genres, include ‘ABRACADABRA’ by Lady Gaga, ‘ORDINARY’ by Alex Warren, ‘NICE TO EACH OTHER’ by Olivia Dean, ‘AURORA’ by Mora and De La Rose, ‘STAY’ by ROE.
