Cardi B reveals she’s pregnant during BET Awards performance

What everyone expected to be a “normal” performance turned out to be a surprise for everyone who watched it. Cardi B announced that she is pregnant with her second child during a live performance with Migos at the BET Awards in Los Angeles. 

The event held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The award-winning rapper and her partner, Offset, are already parents to a 2-year-old daughter, Kulture. 

She came out on stage in a diamante-studded outfit. It has a cut-out section that revealed her baby bump. The news about Cardi B being pregnant was unexpected, and the reactions immediate. Some fans said she had “pulled a Beyonce” on the world. Beyonce once revealed that she was pregnant for her first child, Blue Ivy, during a performance.

Shortly after her performance, she also posted an announcement on social media simply captioned, “#2”. This was a simple yet profound statement that she was expecting her second baby.

The Year of the Black Woman

Cardi B and Offset secretly married in 2017, before splitting up in 2018 after she gave birth that same year. The two have had an on-and-off relationship ever since. 

The BET (Black Entertainment TV) Awards celebrate achievements by black artists. This year, the event was based on the theme, “Year of the Black Woman”.

Cardi B was nominated for a number of awards at this year’s BET Awards. The nominations include Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration (WAP ft. Megan Thee Stallion), Video of the Year (WAP and Up), and Viewer’s Choice Award (WAP).

She and Megan Thee Stallion took home the award for Video of the Year. However, Cardi B did not appear on stage to accept the award, saying she’d overdone it.

Offset, as part of Migos, was nominated for Best Group.
