Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has spoken out against the growing trend of criticising celebrities for repeating outfits at events.
In a video circulating online, Adebayo questioned the expectation that public figures must always wear new clothes, labeling it as unrealistic and wasteful.
She said; “Since when did repeating an outfit become a crime? Who said I can not repeat my clothes over and over again?” She gave examples of dresses she feels cannot be repeated- like corset or wrapper and blouse.

Emphasising on what people expect them not to repeat, she said; “I talking about dresses, shoes bags, things I bought for myself and because I’ve worn it to an event, you don’t expect me to wear it again.”

Adebayo took to her social media platform to express her thoughts on the matter, highlighting the unfair pressure on celebrities to constantly wear new outfits. “When did we become this fake? Social media is not your reality can we all wake up.” She emphasized that this expectation promotes a culture of fast fashion and wastefulness, and called on fans and critics alike to be more understanding and accepting of celebrities’ fashion choices.
