Celestial Church Opens Probe Into Temitope Osoba’s Death, Vows Justice

Obituary of actress Temitope Osoba

The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) has announced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, amid allegations involving her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 12, the church said it was “discreetly investigating” the circumstances that led to Osoba’s death and would leave no stone unturned.

The development follows claims by Onadeko that Osoba died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The prophet, who serves as Shepherd-in-Charge of CCC Onibuore Cathedral in Ibeju-Lekki, denied claims that anyone poisoned or maltreated Osoba or misused the funds people donated for her cancer treatment.

He said he learnt of her death through a late-night phone call. However, these claims have not been independently verified.

The church stressed that allegations of idolatry, black magic, cultism and the use of charms have no place in its doctrine. It said any member found culpable after investigations would face internal disciplinary measures and the full force of the law.

The CCC also called on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, pledging to cooperate with authorities.

Osoba, 40, died earlier this month after previously battling breast cancer. Her burial initially scheduled for Thursday, August 13, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, has been postponed indefinitely by the deceased family.
