The Federal High Court in Lagos has allowed Proxy Night Club, owned by Lagos socialite Mike Nwogu (Pretty Mike), to reopen.

This decision came after the court rejected a new attempt by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to keep the club closed.

Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa denied the NDLEA’s request to stop an earlier court order that allowed the Victoria Island nightclub to reopen while an appeal is ongoing.

The judge said the agency did not meet the legal requirements to suspend the decision made on December 5, 2025.

The court also criticized the NDLEA for not asking to suspend the earlier ruling from November 28, which led to the December order.

The judge said this failure weakened the agency’s case and affected its application.

Justice Lewis-Allagoa also said the reasons given by the NDLEA in its appeal were not enough to keep the club closed. The order to unseal the premises remains valid, so Proxy Night Club can reopen.

The legal dispute started after NDLEA officers raided the club late at night on October 26, 2025, arresting Pretty Mike and more than 100 patrons for alleged drug offences.

Those arrested were later brought to court, pleaded not guilty, and received bail on November 7, 2025.

After the raid, the NDLEA asked the court to temporarily seize the nightclub, claiming it was linked to drug activities.

The court dismissed that request, saying suspects are innocent until proven guilty, and ordered the club to be unsealed.

At the latest hearing, the court approved a request for substituted service in a contempt case against the NDLEA Chairman for allegedly not following court orders.

The court warned the agency to fully comply with all its orders.

The main criminal case will continue on February 9 and 10.
