On Monday, the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode declined Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde’s request for an interim injunction to prevent Governor Dapo Abiodun and five others from continuing the process of selecting and installing the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
Represented by Wahab Shittu (SAN), the Fuji musician asked the court for the injunction while waiting for his main case, which challenges the selection process, to be heard.
Justice A. A. Omoniyi turned down the request, stating that the interim injunction lacked merit and there was not enough reason to approve it.
The judge ordered the main case to be heard quickly and scheduled the proceedings for 14 January 2026.
KWAM1 has said he wants to become the next Awujale, claiming he is a descendant of the Jadiara Royal House, which belongs to the larger Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
But the Fusengbuwa ruling house disagreed, saying he is not a member of their royal house.

Believing he was treated unfairly, Ayinde filed a lawsuit against the Fusengbuwa ruling house, Governor Abiodun, the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Dare Alebiosu, and three others.
Others named in the lawsuit include the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat; the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Oke Adebanjo; and the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, Dr. Olorogun Sunny Kuku.
The suit, HC3/238/2025, dated 16 December 2025, was filed ex parte and cites Order 38 Rules 4 and Order 39 Rule 1 of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2024, Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution, and the court’s inherent powers.
Ayinde requested that the court stop all respondents from making any further moves in the Awujale selection process, saying this would protect his interests and keep the case from being affected.
He asked the court to stop the respondents, “their agents, or anyone acting on their behalf, from taking any steps in the installation process of the next Awujale of Ijebuland pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.” musician said he wants to become the next Awujale, “and the injunction is necessary to secure his interest and preserve the res from being dissipated or interfered with by the respondents.”
Now that the interim injunction has been denied, attention turns to the main hearing on 14 January 2026, which will determine whether KWAM1 can claim the Awujale title.
