Daniel Regha, social media commentator has recently criticised Nigerian Singer, Simi with her recent remarks on sexual assault, arguing that her message should have addressed multiple aspects of the issue.
Taking to X, Daniel stated that Simi’s awareness campaign focused primarily on rapists rather than on individuals who make false accusations.
According to Daniel, although sexual assault and false allegations are separate conversations, both acts deserve equal condemnation because of the emotional and social damage they inflict on victims.
Daniel stressed that people affected by either situation often endure similar levels of trauma, stigmatisation, and societal judgement.
Daniel further argued that attempting to minimise the seriousness of one issue over the other is insensitive and disrespectful to those who have suffered.
Daniel post quickly attracted mixed reactions from users, with some agreeing that public figures should address both sides of the conversation, while others defended Simi’s decision to centre her message on raising awareness about sexual violence.
