While social media is renowned for promoting entertainment content, cruises, and other controversial agendas, there is actually a dark side of social media that is rarely discussed, as it was expressed by netizens on the microblogging site, X.

According to the narratives shared by social media users, they are disclosing the side that is often hidden and taken away from the average reality. In their narration, some of the young stated that they were taken advantage of by older women, aunties, and were even sodomized by men.

On Monday evening, the dark side of social media was subtly opened as men disclosed several of the struggles they have had to overcome for several years.

In the trending topic about the dark side of social media, a coterie of young men have taken to the microblogging site, X to recount how they were sexually abused as child while growing up.

The thread which was seen by eelive.ng started after social media influencer, Sir Dickson Wizarab asked men to share stories of how they were molested as children.

Research from the UK’s Men’s Unwanted Sexual Experiences (MUSE) project found that a majority of men who experienced unwanted sexual contact reported multiple sexual harassment experiences, but many did not report them to police, health providers, or even friends.

Also, key barrier was the idea that such experiences “don’t happen to men,” which makes it less likely for young men to seek help or report harassment.
