Davido Condemns Shooting of Osogbo Accord Party Chairman

Afrobeats superstar Davido has strongly condemned the shooting of Hon. Asimiyu Ajibola, popularly known as Baba Isila, Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government, Osun State.1

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Davido urged Nigerians to rise above political differences and avoid actions that fuel insecurity.

He wrote: “The attack on the Chairman of Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government by political hoodlums must be condemned and rejected by all.”

He called for peaceful democratic competition, adding, “If APC is sure they are popular, let’s settle this with ballot papers, not guns or weapons.”

The incident occurred around 9:50 PM on Wednesday, June 4, 2026, near the Osogbo Community Bank axis in MDS Osogbo. Suspected gunmen opened fire on a blue Toyota Corolla carrying Ajibola and his friends, causing panic in the area.

Ajibola was rushed to the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, where he is reportedly on the danger list, receiving treatment.

The attack has heightened tensions in Osun State ahead of the gubernatorial election. Security agencies are yet to make arrests, but the shooting has drawn widespread condemnation.
