The Recording Academy announced Davido’s membership through a video shared on their Instagram page, where Davido expressed excitement about being part of the community. “Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard and participating in the GRAMMY award process is a game changer,” Davido said. He emphasized that voting empowers him to have a say in what is considered and voted on each award season.

Davido’s inclusion in the Recording Academy shows the growing global recognition of Nigerian music and Afrobeats. He joins other notable Nigerian artists like Jaywon, Laycon, Oxlade, Flavour, Bizzle Osikoya, and Maleekberry as part of the Recording Academy.

This development is a significant one for Davido, who earned a Grammy nomination in the category for Best African Music Performance earlier this year. Fans have taken to the comment section to congratulate the singer on his new achievement and hoping he will get a Grammy award soon.
