Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has opened up on how he nearly walked away from the music industry before the release of his song ‘With You’ featuring Omah Lay.
The DMW boss made the revelation in a viral interview where he spoke about the pressure of sustaining his career after more than a decade at the top.
According to him, he had reached a point where he felt it might be time to slow down or even bow out completely.

Davido, however, explained that the success of With You changed everything for him.
The singer said he never imagined the song would rise to become the standout hit on his latest album.

“Some artistes get that kind of song early in their careers, others get it halfway. For me, after 13 or 14 years in the game, I was already thinking of stepping aside. Then God blessed me with this song. It gave me new life,” Davido stated.
The ‘Unavailable’ crooner described the timing of the song as divine, stressing that it came at the moment he was considering taking a back seat in the industry.
The multiple award-winning singer further reflected on his long journey in music, recalling how he started as a young artiste dropping club bangers before evolving into one of Africa’s biggest stars.
Davido said maintaining relevance in a competitive space like Afrobeats has not been easy, but the love he continues to receive from fans across the world has kept him going.
