Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to her marriage, declaring that divorce is not an option for her.
In a recent episode of The Afropolitan Podcast, shared on X (formerly Twitter), the iconic star opened up about her 30-year union with husband Captain Matthew Ekeinde, sharing insights into what has sustained their relationship and why divorce is not an option for her.
Ekeinde emphasised, “Divorce is not an option for me. It doesn’t mean it’s not an option for you… I’m not against divorce.” She clarified that marriage is deeply personal: “My marriage can never be the same thing as your marriage. No two marriages are the same because no two persons are the same.”

Highlighting her husband’s qualities that have kept them together for three decades, she noted, “My husband is a very selfless person. Has no ego… I’ve been married to him now 30 years. The actress described their bond as evolving beyond romance into a profound connection: “I’ve known him all my life… he’s like my brother, though, at this point.” For her, staying married isn’t about constant bliss but commitment through challenges, acknowledging tough seasons but emphasising patience and shared values.
