The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has officially debunked widespread rumours that it banned Burna Boy’s music from DJ playlists following a reported clash with DJ Tunez.

In a clear statement issued on Thursday, DJAN National President Prince Akim Edeh described the reports as “false and misleading” and strongly condemned the unauthorised use of the association’s logo in viral social media posts and early news reports.

DJAN clarified that DJ Tunez is not a registered member of the association. Edeh stressed that DJAN is simply monitoring ongoing investigations into the incident and has no intention of banning Burna Boy’s music or that of any artist. “We stand for professionalism and unity in the entertainment space,” the statement noted.

The rumor erupted earlier this week after an alleged physical altercation at a private Lagos Afrobeats event.

Wizkid-and-DJ-Tunez

Reports claimed Burna Boy and his team assaulted DJ Tunez (Wizkid’s longtime DJ) after he played Wizkid tracks instead of Burna Boy’s songs.

A statement circulating on Instagram, purportedly from the Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ/DJAN), announced a temporary ban and directed DJs in Nigeria and abroad to remove the Grammy-winning artist’s tracks pending investigation.

This swift debunking has eased the tension caused by the earlier statement and put the minds of the Grammy award-winning singer’s fans at rest.
