Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode,Popular Nigerian media personality, also known as Do2dtun, has criticised Nigerians who relocated abroad but continue to advise others against making the same move.
The former on-air personality expressed his displeasure in a post shared on his official X handle on Tuesday. He noted that it was unfair for people who had already left Nigeria to discourage others who were considering leaving.

In his words, “If you japaed, stop advising people on why they should not come over. If you haven’t moved back to Nigeria; you still live there, please shut up. You are not qualified to discourage people who want to follow the same path. Keep your advice to yourself. If e too hard, come back. Let others try.”
The post immediately generated reactions on social media, with many Nigerians agreeing with his position. Some thanked him for voicing what they had been unable to say publicly, while others argued that those abroad were only trying to present the challenges they experienced in order to prepare others ahead of time.
Do2dtun’s comments have now added to the ongoing debate around “japa,” the slang word used to describe Nigerians relocating in search of better opportunities abroad.
In recent years, thousands of Nigerians, especially young professionals, have moved to countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.

While some return to share stories of success and stability, others complain about the struggles of adapting to a new environment, securing jobs, and coping with the high cost of living abroad. This mixed reality has often led to conflicting advice for those still living in Nigeria and planning to travel out.
Do2dtun, however, maintained that those who had not returned had no moral ground to stop others from trying their luck.
