Doctor Clarifies Ogogo’s Care Amid Family Appeals

Veteran actor Taiwo Hassan

A medical practitioner has addressed claims by the daughters of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, that hospitals have stopped treating their father for stage-four cancer.

Olusina Ajidahun, known online as The Bearded Dr Sina, said the family’s description risked being misunderstood. He explained that when chemotherapy and other options have been exhausted in advanced cancer cases, patients are often shifted to palliative care. This approach focuses on managing symptoms and maintaining quality of life rather than attempting curative treatment.

Ajidahun cautioned that framing the situation as hospitals “refusing” care could damage public trust in healthcare workers and spark hostility, especially given recent tensions in the sector. He also warned against recommending unproven herbal remedies, noting that no such concoctions can reverse stage-four cancer and may instead cause further organ damage.

Stage-four cancer, he clarified, means the disease has spread beyond its original site. He urged the family to collaborate closely with the medical team and expressed sympathy for their difficult circumstances. Ajidahun stressed he is not involved in Ogogo’s treatment.

Earlier, daughters Lima and Kira Taiwo posted emotional Instagram videos seeking medical help. They said hospitals indicated chemotherapy could no longer continue and appealed for anyone able to offer treatment options, while emphasising they were not requesting financial donations.
