A renowned fertility scientist Oriade Kehinde Samuel has called out actress and producer Bimbo Ademoye on the portray of surrogacy in her blockbuster movie ”Where Love Lives”.

The romantic comedy, released on December 24, 2025, exclusively on Ademoye’s YouTube channel quickly went viral, surpassing 6 million views within just 72 hours.

In a video circulating online, Dr. Oriade Kehinde Samuel, a specialist in fertility science, advised Nollywood writers and producers to consult  professionals when portraying professions in their movies in other to pass the correct information or message. His primary concern centers on a key scene involving infertility struggles, failed IVF attempts, and a surrogacy arrangement.

According to the doctor’s account, the plot features the husband surprising his wife with a personal dinner date involving their surrogate,  sparking a confrontation where the wife initially accuses him of infidelity, only to learn the woman’s true role. Dr. Samuel highlighted that this portrayal is highly inaccurate.

There is no where that a surrogate and the intending parents would meet or would have dinner date because the identity of both parties are at risk,” he stated. In standard surrogacy practices (especially gestational surrogacy prevalent in Nigeria and globally), anonymity is prioritised to safeguard privacy, prevent emotional complications, reduce legal risks, and avoid potential exploitation. The surrogate typically delivers the child, who is then handed over through an agency representative, clinic intermediary, or legal process.

The fertility expert urged Ademoye to address and correct the misleading impression created by the scene, describing it as a significant error that could confuse audiences.
