Don’t Let Snails Crawl on Your Skin – Aproko Doctor Tells Skincare Lovers

Aproko Doctor

Popular Nigerian doctor and health influencer Dr. Chinonso Egemba, better known as Aproko Doctor, has raised an alarm urging people to steer clear of the trending “live snail facial” practice that promises glowing skin through direct contact with Giant African Land Snails.

In his latest warning, Aproko Doctor detailed the real dangers behind this viral beauty hack. Many users place live snails on their faces, believing the fresh mucin will hydrate, fade scars, treat acne, and deliver anti-aging effects naturally and affordably.

The doctor who is known for sharing health contents noted that these everyday snails often picked from backyards, bushes, or farms, are frequent hosts of the rat lungworm parasite. This parasite as highlighted by the doctor, can move to the human brain and spinal cord and cause  serious and sometimes fatal condition. “One session could be all it takes,” he cautioned.

Additional when the snails’ unpurified slime touches broken skin, active acne, or tiny cuts, it opens the door to painful infections.  Aproko Doctor emphasized that filtered, lab-processed snail mucin in reputable skincare brands is safer and has some backing for moisture and mild repair benefits.

He therefore advised for genuine, safe glow like drinking enough water, load up on vitamin C-rich foods like oranges and pawpaw to support collagen, prioritize good sleep for skin recovery, and apply sunscreen daily to protect against UV damage. “Skip the shortcuts that can hospitalize you,” he said.
