Drake Makes History with Big Win at Billboard Music Awards 2019

Drake won the Best Rap Song award at the Grammys

 

It’s OVO season again as Drake makes history once again, copping 12 awards at the just concluded 2019 edition of the Billboard Music Awards. The Canadian Rapper brings his grand total to 27, making him the most awarded artist in Billboard Music Awards history.

“27 Billboard Awards so floored can’t even really register it but scroll to the 4th pic to see my most flattering shot of the night,” Drake said, boasting about his latest feat in an Instagram post.

The Toronto native beat out other shining stars like Cardi B, Travis Scott, Post Malone and more in categories like Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Rap Album and Top Streaming Song (Video).

While accepting his trophy for Top Male Artist, Drizzy gave thanks to ScHoolboy Q, who recently said Drake was an underrated rapper; “ScHoolboy Q said something really nice about me…I didn’t feel like being that guy that’s too cool. I reached out to him. I let him know it meant the world to me,” Drizzy said during the speech.

ScHoolboy had been filled with praises for Drizzy during an interview on Hot 97’s ‘Ebro in the Morning’.  Speaking with show hosts Ebro Darden and Peter Rosenberg, Q said Drizzy’s sheer numbers speak to his popularity.

“If Drake is trash, you niggas stop giving him 50 billion streams. Cause y’all all listening to it, bruh, it’s too many streams. Y’all listening to him, you just don’t wanna say it,” ScHoolboy Q had said.

While accepting one of the awards of the night, Drake also gave a shout out  to Arya Stark from HBO’s Game of Thrones.
