Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke better known as Davido has condemned the arrest of popular social media critic, Martins Vincent Oste better known as VeryDarkMan by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
eelive.ng reports that activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju earlier confirmed in a post on his official Facebook page on Friday evening that the social media influencer was detained and in the custody of the anti-graft agency.
This comes after it was suggested that Guaranty Trust Bank, GTB, ordered VDM’s arrest following his criticism of the bank after alleged unauthorised transactions were made from his mother’s account.

Reacting, Davido on Sunday night expressed his support for the activist on X, formerly known as Twitter, noting that the massive public support was encouraging.
He noted that it was encouraging to see people appreciating VeryDarkMan for the positive impact he is making across Nigeria. He also called for the release of VeryDarkMan.
His reads:”Outside all the noise, Its good to see that the good one does actually impacts lives and people actually appreciate! The support i’m seeing for VDM everywhere is encouraging.. make one want to do more for the masses. FREE MY GUY.”
Meanwhile, the legal counsel to VeryDarkMan, Deji Adeyanju, recently confirmed plans to work on his client’s release.
He added that the Commission had yet to disclose the specific offences alleged against his client formally.
“I’m currently not in Nigeria, but I’ll be back in Abuja tomorrow (Monday) afternoon. By 4 p.m., we’ll be at the EFCC to secure his bail,” Adeyanju said.
