Entertainment and streaming in Nigeria witnessed a revolution yesterday with the launch of Nvivo TV. Envivo Communications CEO Victor Anjorin unveiled his new streaming service Nvivo TV at a press conference at AFRIFF.
Nvivo TV is Pan-African and will showcase entertainment content from all over the continent. AFRIFF founder and Nvivo TV stakeholder Chioma Ude spoke extensively about the unique lineup of original TV shows and shorts which the streaming service will feature.
Original TV series
Among the TV shows that Nvivo will show is “Slaughterhouse”, a show about a male prostitute in Lagos. There’s also a comedy titled “Confession Box” about an impatient reverend. And then there’s “Side Chick”, which features submitted stories from real-life side chicks.
In the reality TV category, there is a show tackling social issues with a liberal and humorous twist. This one features Nse Ikpe-Etim and popular comedian Nedu. Then there’s even a Kate Henshaw TV show, showing the importance of fitness.
The service includes faith-based programmes, Bollywood series, and cartoons on the other end of the spectrum. This is in order to not alienate any segment of the population.
Star-studded lineup
AFRIFF founder and Nvivo TV stakeholder Chioma Ude spoke extensively about the curation of the TV shows on the streaming service. All the shows were handpicked and went through a vetting process.
Each and every one of the TV shows to be featured on the streaming service is complete with a star-studded lineup. The streaming service boasts of a host of celebrities like Ini Edo, Kate Henshaw, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Steven Damien, and so many silver screen sweethearts.
Many of these celebrities were present at the event and came to speak a little about the shows and the creation process.
Target Market
Envivo CEO Victor Anjorin talked a bit about the shows. The media mogul revealed that they made these shows into bite-sized episodes for their target market. Millennials.
The shows are heavy with themes that hit home for audiences between 18 and 35. The TV shows deal with topics ranging from body image to social media identity to sexuality.
The streaming service also features bite-sized shows that cater to shorter attention spans.
Technicalities
Nvivo TV will have optimized analytics in order to measure how much exactly a movie is making. This will help them know what is popular with the Nigerian audience.
It will also help them properly monetize these shows, in turn paying the creators behind them. This way, they don’t get the shorter end of the stick.
Nvivo TV is available for free and can be streamed across six devices. Check it out here!
