Fairness and Equity – Yul Edochie Backs South-East for Nigeria’s Next President

Yul Edochie

Yul Edochie, the Nollywood actor and former presidential aspirant, has called for Nigeria’s next president to emerge from the South-East region, describing it as a matter of fairness and equity.

In a video shared via his Instagram page, Edochie emphasised that justice demands the South-East be given the opportunity to produce the next president.

The next president of Nigeria should come from the South-East. In fairness and equity. That’s just the truth and how it should be,” he stated.

Edochie’s latest comments come despite his well-known admiration for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Last year, he publicly praised Tinubu’s administration, claiming it had achieved significant progress in power supply and security across the country. According to him, many states now enjoy up to 22 hours of electricity daily, and terrorist attacks have significantly reduced.

Lauding the President’s leadership, Edochie described Tinubu as the “Jagaban, master strategist, and silent achiever,” assuring Nigerians that his government would “fix it all.”

In a show of solidarity, Yul also launched the “Relax, Jagaban Will Fix This Country” campaign. His wife, Judy Austin, commended his commitment to the movement, calling him a symbol of strength and stability, and praised his unwavering dedication to his beliefs.

Yul also drew public attention when he affectionately dubbed himself “Asiwaju Baby”, openly professing his admiration for the president. He even posted a photo of himself wearing a native outfit emblazoned with Tinubu’s image, further showcasing his loyalty.

Despite his ongoing support for Tinubu, Yul’s recent remarks suggest a shift toward advocating for regional equity in Nigeria’s leadership structure.
