A family member of Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Femi Adebayo has come to his defense amid widespread social media backlash following the eviction of his estranged wife, Omotayo Sanusi, popularly known as Iyan Aladuke, from a Lagos property.
The incident sparked outrage online, with many accusing Adebayo of abandoning his former partner and neglecting her welfare after their marriage reportedly hit the rocks. Critics, however, painted the actor as heartless, especially given the public nature of the eviction and its impact on his estranged wife’s life and business.

However, Mrs. Taiwo Abdulmalik, a close relative, clarified that the eviction was not a deliberate act by Adebayo. Bringing clarification to the public issue, she explained that the property was purchased solely by the actor using a bank loan. As reported by eelive.ng, due to challenges in repaying the facility, the bank closed the facility.

Abdulmalik noted that Iyan Aladuke was fully aware of the loan arrangement and had been informed months in advance about the bank’s impending actions. She stressed that the property belonged exclusively to Adebayo, and he continues to bear the financial burden of the outstanding debt.
However, Adebayo reportedly secured the relocation of Iyan Aladuke, her family members, and staff to a fully paid short-let apartment after the foreclosure began. Abdulmalik slammed the public, describing online narrative as incomplete and one-sided and urged them to consider the facts rather than assumptions as it brings damage to the prominent filmmaker’s name and image.
