
Nigerian singer Fido with the birth name Olayemi Josiah Awosika, has opened up about his tumultuous relationship with his former record label and management, alleging they took nearly all of his advance payment.
In a recent radio interview, Fido claimed that out of a $20,000 advance, he only received approximately ₦1.5 million, roughly $1,000 stating that the team kept around 95% of the funds.

Fido expressed frustration over the label’s handling of his finances, saying, “I was transparent with them even when I was still with them, but they took all my advance from me… they gave me just ₦1.5 million out of $20,000.”
He emphasised that there are facts to support his claims, hinting at a potentially lengthy and contentious dispute.
The singer currently working on his debut album as an independent artist.
Fido’s music career has been gaining momentum, particularly with his hit single “Awolowo” in August 2024. He made a remix featuring Tiwa Savage. Fido also released “Joy Is Coming” which immediately became an anthem in the country.
