FilmOne Sets New Date For Nollywood’s First Afrobeats Musical Film ‘EVI’

FilmOne Entertainment, the leading film Distributor in Africa has announced EVI, an Afrobeats musical written and directed by Uyoyou Adia is set to be released in cinemas across the country in March 2026.

The distributor described the project on X, formerly known as Twitter, as a female-led musical that highlights the experiences of women working in music and film.

“Welcome to the year of EVI! When life breaks you, music becomes your lifeline. Coming to cinemas March 2026,” the statement reads.

Adia wrote and directed the film, which is produced by Judith Audu. This continues their creative partnership after L.I.F.E (2024).

The story follows a popular singer whose career falls apart after her record label drops her without pay. With help from her best friend and manager, she tries to rebuild her career while facing questions about her identity and self-worth.

Uyoyou Adia

EVI features original songs and is one of the few musical films in Nollywood’s commercial scene.

Audu, Adia, and Damiola Osikoya co-produced the film under Judith Audu Productions, Switch Visuals Productions, Signet Rings Productions, and NOI Productions.
