Nigerian entertainers Ayra Starr and Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) have made their first on-screen appearance in the newly released teaser for Paramount Pictures’ adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel, Children of Blood and Bone.
The teaser, released ahead of the film’s official trailer, offers audiences a first glimpse of the highly anticipated movie, which is set for an exclusive theatrical and IMAX release on January 15, 2027.
The preview features an ensemble cast that includes Idris Elba, Damson Idris, Viola Davis, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Tosin Cole, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Thuso Mbedu. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the teaser also includes behind-the-scenes footage from the production.
Tems’ hit single Me & U is featured in the teaser’s soundtrack, ahead of her role as executive music producer for the film.
Adapted from Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi’s 2018 novel, the first book in the Legacy of Orïsha trilogy, Children of Blood and Bone follows Zélie Adebola, a young woman on a quest to restore magic to the kingdom of Orïsha after it was eradicated by a ruthless monarchy.

Reflecting on her transition from music to acting in a previous interview with CBS, Ayra Starr described the experience as a major learning curve.
“This is my first movie ever. You know, I’m used to being a singer and diva on set, but this one with the movie is like, it’s not about you. You’ve to be on set on time. So, it made me get used to military time and working hard. I respect actors so much more now. Their stamina is impeccable.”
Produced by Paramount Pictures, Children of Blood and Bone brings together a star-studded African and international cast. The film also features Tems as executive music producer, with Burna Boy serving as a music consultant.
